Dress Code Policy for 2023-2024

  •  Shirts: All shirts must be uniform shirts purchased from Chai Tees, the school’s authorized uniform agent. The approved uniform shirts are polos in navy, light blue, and grey with the school logo embroidered on the left chest. Only school-approved uniform Spirit/T-shirts can be worn on sanctioned Spirit Day events. Plain white T-shirts (no writing) can be worn underneath polos. These are the only shirts permitted to be worn in school.
  • Pants/Shorts:  All uniform bottoms must be purchased from Chai Tees, the school’s authorized uniform agent. The school’s acronym has been placed on the pants for identification purposes. All uniform pants/shorts/skorts must be worn at the natural waist, be in good repair (no tears), and be the appropriate size. Only uniform clothing from Chai Tees is permitted. No jeans of any color or style are permitted unless they are authorized for a sanctioned school day or event (i.e. Spirit Days on Fridays, etc.). Color: Khaki and Navy
  • Jackets/Sweatshirts: Only designated jackets and sweatshirts purchased from Chai Tees, the school’s authorized uniform agent, may be worn in the building.  Approved jackets (Lettermen-style) are Navy with Grey sleeves or Navy with White sleeves and have the school’s logo embroidered on the left chest. Approved sweatshirts are crewneck only in either Navy or Charcoal Grey with the approved school design on the front. Hoodies are not permitted.
  • PE Uniform: Students must dress out for PE wearing the school-approved PE uniform purchased from Chai Tees, the school’s authorized uniform agent. Colors: Navy Shorts. White Shirts with school logo

National School Lunch Program

We are implementing an online National School Lunch Program application feature in support of our ongoing efforts to go paperless within our cafeterias. You can find the link to the on your schools’ website, under the parent section for meal service. Below are instructions on how to submit a free and reduced lunch application.

  1. Visit the following website: https://www.myschoolapps.com/
  2. Click the blue “Get Started” button
  3. Enter your students school zip code OR select the state of the school
  4. Under “Choose School District” select your students’ school
  5. Click “Select and Continue”
  6. Select the blue “Begin Application Process” button

    5. Set personal login and password
    6. Add student(s) to your account (use the drop-down menu)
    7. Search School Store to view student activities
    8. Make a payment to the item of your choice with your credit/debit card. A program fee may apply. You will have the opportunity to review and cancel any fees before you are charged.

Volunteer Hours

1 student attending DSAHS = 20 volunteer hours
2 or more students attending = 30 volunteer hours

To log hours, go to the Parent Portal on Powerschools and click the CSUSA Volunteer Hours tab.

Student Community Service

NHS

Community service is a high school graduation requirement.  You must complete a minimum of 100 community service hours as it is a requirement of Don Soffer Aventura High School.  We recommend that you begin your community service the summer before entering ninth grade.  An official letter printed on business stationery describing the community services performed and the number of hours completed is required from the person who supervised your community service.  The original letter and the community service cover sheet must be submitted to the Guidance Counselor in the main office.

Transportation Information

Don Soffer Aventura Charter High School will be providing limited bus service for those students who are eligible.

Bus transportation provided is designed in accordance with Miami-Dade County Public School guidelines. If you qualify for transportation, it would be between 2 and 3 walk miles from the school address.

Your bus pass will be sent via email to the address you list below once transportation has been approved. No student will be transported without a bus pass.

Parent Grievance Procedure

If a parent has a grievance or complaint, please follow the process below:

  1. Seek to resolve the problem with the teacher, if applicable.
  2. If the problem is not resolved, meet with the school administration via an appointment.
